Jhabua city is inspired by the name of its King Jhabua Nayak. Jhabua city was ruled by King Jhabua hundreds of years ago and the Maharaja of Jodha Rathore dynasty attacked and defeated Jhabua King. Thereafter, Jhabua city came under the Rajvanshi Raj and the Maharajas of Jodha Rathore dynasty ruled. The founder of Jodha Rathore dynasty is Rao Jodha Ji, after whose name the Rathore Raghuvanshi community came to be known as Jodha Rathore Raghuvanshis. The rule of Jodha Rathore Dynasty in Jhabua city started from 1584 AD. The first Maharaja of Jhabua city and the first Raghuvanshi of Jodha Dynasty was Maharaja Keshavdas Ji who ruled from 1584 AD to 1607. Thus, with the passage of time, different Maharajas of the Jodha Rathore dynasty ascended the throne of Jhabua city and took over the reins of Jhabua city. The 20th Maharaja of Jhabua city, Ajit Singh, sat on the throne from 1965 to 2002, and after his demise in 2002, Narendra Singh was crowned and anointed as the 21st Maharaja of Jhabua city. The coronation was done by the royal priest Shri Hariom Singh with his blood, after which Maharaja Narendra Singh was enthroned.
